in News

On June 6, 1903 a star was born. While it’s not quite as vital as the Sun our planet revolves around, living in Indianapolis without The Indy Star newspaper would be just as hard to do. For over 100 years The Indianapolis Star has been keeping its readers out of the dark when it comes to local, national and world news. The Indianapolis newspaper is recognized as one of the most read in the entire country.

During the Indianapolis newspaper’s first 40 years of existence, its popularity rose and fell due to competition from several other local rags. In 1948 The Star shot up to the top of the list where it has been firmly seated ever since. In 2000 the Gannett Co., the nation’s largest newspaper chain, bought our local paper and has been printing it ever since. The Indianapolis Star is a two time winner of the famed Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting. The first was awarded to The Star in 1975 for a series detailing corruption that plagued the Indianapolis community police department at the time. The paper received its second in 1991 in recognition of a series dealing with medical malpractice.

While it is always good to know where you came from, nothing is as important as what’s happening right now in the world when it comes to newspapers. The Star is Indy‘s number one source for news concerning Hoosiers and the central Indiana region we live in. You can still pick up the latest copy of The Indianapolis Star newspaper at almost every convenience store and coffee shop in and around Indianapolis. However, in keeping with the times, The Star can also be found on the Indy newspaper’s website in its entirety. There you will find that clicking on the corresponding page is as easy as flipping to your favorite section, whether you’re searching for Indianapolis obituaries, the latest local sports frenzy, Indianapolis classifieds or a good Indianapolis realtor. And of course there’s a section on Indianapolis media, including Indianapolis TV stations and Indianapolis magazines.

Looking for things to do in Indianapolis? The IndyStar newspaper offers its readers countless options throughout its pages. If you’re looking to find the newest art in Indianapolis check out the entertainment section. This is also great section to learn about what makes the culture in Indianapolis so distinctive. You will be able to find the latest scores and reports on your favorite sports teams in Indianapolis inside the sports section. The Star’s lifestyle section always offers great tips for healthy living in Indianapolis. Whether you need to downgrade because you have an empty nest, or upgrade because the family is getting bigger you’ll always be able to find Indianapolis real estate for sale in the “Indianapolis homes for sale” section.

I cant believe it is so hard to get a copy of the Sports page for Friday Dec. 14, with the Marian Knights on the front page. I want it for my grandson’s scrapbook. They tell me I need to come down town or send $2.50 if they hadnt put the article back to back I could have used my paper. I would gladly send a check for page plust postage if they would just mail it too me. Guess Its too much trouble to have my delivery person bring it to me with my daily paper. Thanks.
