The Big Car Gallery, located in the lively Fountain Square cultural district of Indianapolis, Indiana, is a favorite draw for visitors and locals alike. The gallery presents all the live arts at one time or another inside their gallery and performance venues.
Big Car likes new stuff. They lean toward the experimental and edgy; in this way they keep their offerings fresh, and keep Indianapolis art lovers coming back.
The Big Car group is a non-profit co-op of all volunteers, and all of them are creative. Their mission is two-fold: 1) To present all genres of the arts, across the board, in combination with the Big Car Gallery events, on- and off-site, and 2) To collaborate with the various other Indianapolis cultural organizations to support art in Indianapolis, especially concentrating on the Fountain Square and Indianapolis downtown neighborhoods.
Fountain Square is a favorite among Indianapolis cultural districts. It is just southeast of downtown Indianapolis, and Big Car Fountain Square is housed inside the Murphy building, which also houses the Murphy Art Center. It’s a perfect and logical place for a creative hub of a big, energetic city like Indy.
Big Car Gallery holds First Friday gallery openings every month, lasting all day and long into the night with live Indianapolis bands starting at 9:30 p.m. They do a special “Third Friday BART” night that features arts and crafts, short films, and beer tasting.

The gallery presents regularly changed Indianapolis art shows, special activities for holidays, Indianapolis music events and other live arts, and a youthful flair pervades it all.
