The Northside Knights of Columbus is an Indianapolis organization and social club that connects men, women and children to a larger community. Though historically the Knights of Columbus are a Catholic social organization, the Northside Knights of Columbus in Indy are connected to both Catholic and non-Catholic Indianapolis area charitable and nonprofit organizations, which they fund raise for and make donations to each year.
Members of the Northside Knights of Columbus enjoy many social gatherings centered on the goings on of the Circle City. They gather together to cheer on their favorite Indianapolis sports teams such as the Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana Pacers, the Indy Indians, and even the Indiana Fever. They also throw big celebrations such as the 500 Race Day Party and the 500 Calcutta that are centered around taking part in all the fun that comes with having the Indianapolis 500 and the Indianapolis motor speedway in their home town.
In keeping with the tradition of Indianapolis fairs and festivals, the Northside Knights of Columbus have an annual festival each Summer that spans a Friday and Saturday. If you happen to stop by their Northside location you may see Indianapolis kids being whirled around in carnival rides and families chowing down on some deliciously seasonal festival grub, like elephant ears and snow cones.
The Northside Knights of Columbus understand the importance of community and sharing food. That is why every Friday during Lent they throw a Fish Fry where the Indianapolis community can come together to break bread. In addition, they celebrate holidays together by holding an annual Easter brunch and a Mother’s Day brunch for their community. On top of this, everyone in the Northside Knights of Columbus is a little bit Irish on St. Patrick’s Day at their annual St. Patrick’s Day party.
The Northside Knights of Columbus provide fun things to do in Indianapolis with weekly co-ed euchre, pool and bingo. You might even catch them in the Indianapolis nightlife scene as they organize outings to their favorite Indianapolis restaurants and pubs.
The Northside Knights of Columbus are a part of Indianapolis history. The social club was founded in 1961 when their organization purchased land near 71st Street and Keystone Avenue. Originally the club was a fishing and gaming society, apparent through their picturesque setting on a large woodland area. As Indianapolis arts and Indianapolis business began to grow, so did the Northside Knights of Columbus. Eventually the social club established a solid reputation in the capitol city of the Hoosier state, known for their get-togethers and charitable work.
The Northside Knights of Columbus are always looking for great new members to be a part of their community.
