The Rotary Club of Indianapolis is an organization for members of the Indianapolis business community, who are committed to community service in the city. The Rotary Club in Indianapolis is among the oldest in the nation. It was established in 1913, just eight short years after the first ever Rotary Club was founded in Chicago. It was the 58th club established in the United States, giving it a reputation for stability, solidarity, and service.

The members of the club are comprised of men and women who are business leaders in the community and some of Indianapolis’ most notable people. The club is headquartered in downtown Indianapolis at the Athenaeum. The Rotary Club of Indianapolis continues the service-oriented activities for which Rotary Clubs across the country are famous. Some of the pet service projects of the Rotary Club include the Riley Hospital for Childern, the Southwest Social Service Center, the Junior Achievement Headquarters, the Ruth Lilly Health Education Center, and the Rotary Greenway Project.
The service organization claims more than 600 members all over the city and its surrounding suburbs including Greenwood, Noblesville, Indianapolis East, Indianapolis Northeast, Plainfield, Zionsville, Fishers, and Carmel. Their large presence allows the club to have its finger on the civic pulse of the circle city, a necessity for any good service club.
Members of the club strive to live by the ideas espoused in their “4-way-test.” In regards to morals and ethics they ask:
- “Is it the truth?”
- “Is it fair to all concerned?”
- “Will it build goodwill and better friendships?”
- “Will it be beneficial to all concerned?”
By using service to answer for these questions, the Rotary Club of Indianapolis has built an unparalleled reputation in the Indianapolis community.
