Dallas Clark | Indianapolis Colts

Dallas Clark was born in 1979 in Livermore, Iowa, but made his mark in Indy with the great Indianapolis Colts. Hi was NFL draft pick 24 in the first round in 2003 after an impressive stint in both high school and college football at Iowa.

Already a star in many sports at Twin River Valley High School, Clark took home a combination of nine letters in football, baseball, track and basketball. Named Most Valuable Player as a junior and captain of the team as a senior, he has a high school record with 160 tackles.

High School Career

With a college scholarship under his belt, Clark was instrumental in Iowa’s record-breaking undefeated conference season in 2002, its first in 80 years. Clark personally broke another record that year, throwing the longest pass play ever recorded at Kinnick Stadium. Honors from Clark’s high school career include the John Mackey Award for most outstanding college football Tight End and his selection for for first team in the All-Big Ten and consensus first team in the All-American.

Professional Career

Right off the bat, after being drafted by the Colts out of Indianapolis in 2003, rookie Dallas Clark started ten games that year and racked up 340 receiving yards before a broken leg stopped him.

His comeback was even stronger in 2004, with 423 receiving yards and five touchdown receptions, and his renown as an exceptional asset to Indianapolis sports continues to mushroom. Famous athletes abound in the Circle City, but the name of Dallas Clark is liable to stay on the roster of famous Indianapolis residents for quite a long time to come.

His record continues to climb over the several years Clark has been wowing them in pro-ball. In February of 2008, Clark received his franchise tag and the Colts signed him for a huge six-year contract extension.

Professional football means big money, and Dallas Clark’s paycheck is no exception. In fact, he is the highest paid Tight End in the entire NFL, at an average yearly salary of $4.5 million dollars, locked in until 2013.
