When you visit Loon Lake Lodge Restaurant and Bar you immediately envision a visit to the great North American woods. Rough hewn construction and a healthy dose of greenery make you feel like you are walking out of doors instead of inside. And peering at you from different vantage points in this unique eatery are creatures which appear ready to pounce at a moments’ notice. Both amusing and fun, the animatronics that control several bears in their quest to satisfy themselves with honey from a beehive will give you reason to smile. However, you will quickly learn that this Indy restaurant is more than just show.
The Loon Lake Lodge restaurant menu features such exotic fare as elk, bison, walleye, and yes, even rattlesnake (no, it does not taste like chicken). And of course, the steaks are tender and juicy.
Even the appetizers do not disappoint. You will find Bayou Popcorn, spicy crawfish tails, rattlesnake bites (the kind you eat), and a smoked fish sampler featuring salmon, trout and whitefish. Or, if you prefer a salad, there are generous choices available.
To top it all off, a slice of scratch key lime pie that is out-of-this-world delicious!
One thing is for sure, when you dine at Loon Lake Lodge you won’t go hungry. The portions are generous and filling. The prices are stout, but the quality of food and service makes this a worthwhile stop. Be sure to dress casual and if you have a large group, then make sure you call for reservations, since the unusual lodge is a popular Indianapolis restaurant.
