The Ambrosia Restaurant has two locations, one in the trendy Broad Ripple Village district , and one in downtown Indianapolis, handy to everything, including most of your favorite Indianapolis attractions. Once you open the menu and note that all the offerings are in Italian, don’t panic; the descriptions beneath are in plain old English. The authentic dishes are all prepared exactly as they would be if you were dining in the heart of Rome, so go ahead and enjoy the traditional taste of Italy at a modest price! Make sure to sample one of the delicious appetizers; in addition to the customary calamari fritti and bruschetta al pomodoro, there are several you may not have heard of. The torta di caprino is a bit lighter than some; the perfect amount of food to hold you over until the main course, it’s a baked goat cheese round served with warm herb crostini and a rich gorgonzola cream sauce.

When it’s time to choose your entrée, why not give spaghetti a rest and try something new. Besides the full pasta menu, there is a large selection of chicken, beef, and fish dishes, each prepared in traditional Italian styles. The supreme di pollo–a large chicken breast stuffed with mushrooms and herbs and spices in a white wine butter sauce–is an excellent choice if you like poultry.

If you’re more of a red meat connoisseur, try the filetto al chianti-tender beef tenderloin sautéed in garlic and rosemary and tossed with a rich Chianti mushroom sauce. For those who frequent Italian restaurants strictly for the pasta, you won’t be disappointed with the selections at Ambrosia Restaurant. Each dish is prepared in a traditional sauce such as Bolognese, tomato, or pesto cream.

Dining out should be a treat. In the case of Ambrosia’s Italian Restaurant, it turns into an authentic taste of Italia.
