At Bazbeaux Pizza, the food is as unique as the name. Much more than just a pizza joint, Bazbeaux has been serving up reasonably priced Italian fare since 1986. Its original location in Broad Ripple Village continues to thrive, in addition to the two newer locations in nearby Carmel, Indiana and downtown Indianapolis.
If you’re tired of the same old pepperoni and sausage but still craving a hot pie, head to Bazbeaux to see what you’ve been
missing. You’ll likely be surprised at the large selection you find. In addition to the traditional toppings, their list is comprised of some very distinctive choices that they dub “exotic.” For example: have you ever thought of topping your pizza with albacore tuna, pine nuts, crab, shrimp, Cajun chicken, capers, gorgonzola cheese, or pesto? If you’ve eaten at Bazbeaux Pizza in Indianapolis, you have, and likely will again! This is only a small sampling of the ingredients you can use to create your own pie.
If you’re having some trouble figuring out what combinations make a pizza masterpiece, Bazbeaux can fix that with their extensive list of creative combos. For instance, the ‘Viareggio,” a Bazbeaux restaurant original, “tastes like a tuna melt,” per the menu, with white sauce, fresh garlic, and of course, tuna. It’s only one of the offerings with no tomato sauce-other popular choices that dare to defy the status quo are the “Basilica,” covered in a rich pesto sauce with feta cheese and sun-dried tomatoes; and the aptly named “BBQ,” prepared with homemade BBQ sauce tossed with Cheddar cheese and your choice of chicken or shrimp.
Before you create your work of art, you might want to try one of the delicious starters. A favorite at this restaurant is the “Award-Winning Garlic Bread” available with melted cheese or pesto. Several salads are on hand for the lighter appetite, including Greek and Crab varieties. The sandwiches follow along in the unconventional Bazbeaux tradition, with names such as the “Popeye,” featuring a filling of, not surprisingly, spinach; the “Muffaletta” with Genoa salami and ham; and a cheese baguette with melted assorted cheeses. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and even delivers. So next time you reach for the phone to dial up Domino’s, call up or head out to Bazbeaux instead for an unforgettable taste treat. It’s one of the many great restaurants in Indy.
