Located near Broad Ripple Village, Rock Lobster is the place to be if you’re interested in Indianapolis nightlife. It is the second bar in the famous “Party Trifecta” of Indianapolis bars, which also includes The Mineshaft Saloon and Average Joe’s, and it definitely earns its title.
Brick lines the walls surrounding the two bars while colored dim lights shine on the elevated dance floor. Beer and liquor carts are strategically placed inside to help combat the line at the bar. The 21 flat screen TVs play videos while the VIP room has couches to relax and nod your head to the music while giving your feet a break from the dance floor. All the banging beats that permeate through the club are hand selected by DJ Hey for each week.

Rock Lobster, which is named after the B52′s song, has an outdoor patio open all year round with garage doors opening up to the ‘Lobster Lounge.’ Heaters keep it warm and cozy during the winter months. You may have to be patient to get in the door, or you can buy a VIP card and sneak in through the back. A dress code is always enforced, so be sure to dress to impress.

In addition to a fast-paced, fun, and wild atmosphere, Rock Lobster also offers some fantastic specials that can save you a buck or two. One of the most inventive of these is the “Reverse Cover Charge” night, where the first 100 guests get a dollar upon entering the bar. They also have $2 domestics and well drinks on their “Back in the Day” retro video night. It’s a fantastic place in Indianapolis to party on the cheap.
