Death metal fans in Indianapolis are faithful followers of the local group Summon The Destroyer. Together since 2007, the band has been enthralling audiences at Indianapolis bars for a relatively short time. The Indianapolis music group plays a plethora of brutal cover songs as well as gut shredding originals, and their influences include Slayer, Testament and Behemoth. Summon the Destroyer’s debut album, In Reverence to Sin, was released in 2008 on the Naptown Death Corps label.

Chris Durham is the lead vocalist, Mike Morgan and Josh Kappel melt faces with their blistering guitar riffs, Mike Grow is the group’s double bass slinging drummer, and Corey Clark is the bowel-shaking bassist. Each member has his roots in the Indy hardcore and metal scene, representing such now defunct Indianapolis bands as Amongst the Swarm, Ishia, and Into the Silence.
