Iaria’s Italian Restaurant in Indianapolis, Indiana:
Restaurant Reviews & Restaurant Comments

Warm and welcoming
Let’s start with pizza. Iaria’s All Around the World ($14.99) features chopped sausage, thin-sliced pepperoni, salami and mushrooms on a thin (but not cracker) crust. It made us wonder why salami isn’t a more popular pizza topper. Other pie-makers might allow the meats to overwhelm the other ingredients, but Iaria’s version maintained its pizza-ness, satisfyingly filling at lunchtime and as leftovers…

Down home
Walking in we were immediately impressed by the down-home kitchy atmosphere. We felt we might as well be in a neighborhood Italian restaurant deep in a New York city burrough. It was packed. We arrived around 7pm on a Tuesday and things were hoppin’. Always a good sign. We were seated immediately. Assuming the dinner rush was to blame, our waitress was MIA for quite some time…

High expectations were met
Mrs. WYA! chose to have the Crostini with Camponata served hot although you can also have it served cold. It was a huge platter of toasted Italian crostini bread with a divine camponata (diced eggplant, celery, capers, tomatoes, and olives) to load on the slices. We are eggplant lovers so, matched with our other big favorites, olives and capers, our high expectations for this dish were met.

Never again
Typical Italian Amerian food. It is not authentic Italian. The last time I went to this place had to of been 15 years ago. It’s got a nice atmosphere and great bar, but still has the same horrible red sauce (it has to be ketchup based) on incredibly over priced pasta. I’ll go for drinks, but never again for the food...

The best
Iaria’s is the best Italian restaurant in town. Lasagna and Manicotti are both fantastic dishes. I alway recommend this restaurant…

A disappointment
My husband & I decided to try Iaria’s for the first time based on great reviews… We got there when they opened (at 4:30) and were seated promptly. I ordered the cheese tortellini meal and my husband ordered the meat ravoli with bolognese sauce meal. He actually wanted the chunky marinara sauce, but the waitress couldn’t understand what he meant, so he gave up and just ordered the bolognese sauce.

Order one of everything!
The ambience alone wins most people over with it’s qorky yet down to earth staff. But when you take a bite into your chosen dish you the only thing you’ll be regretting is not ordering one of everything. I recommend the tortellini.

Retro movie set atmosphere, great food
I love Iaria’s because I feel like I am stepping on to the set of a movie every time I walk in. With excellent food (I would give recommendations, but you just cant go wrong on this menu), and a fun, retro atmosphere, this is a wonderful place for a date or a night out with friends.

Authentic
If I had an Italian Grandma…she would feed me food made just like this! This is the best original Italian restaurant in Indianapolis. I started off with Mate’s Mozzarella. Big slices of cheese breaded and fried in olive oil. They were hot, crispy and gooey good. I had the Gourmet Cheese Ravioli which were big, plump and cooked al dente. I really liked the cream and tomato sauce. I felt I got the best of both worlds.

One word. Lasagna.
I always order the lasagna, which comes with a simple salad, delicious minestrone soup and a huge portion of lasagna. It’s so fantastic. The sauce is slightly sweet, and I just love it. Great wait staff, family owned, and almost always a line out the door. So glad we found this place.
