The lovely Holcomb Gardens are located on campus at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Butler is the private college that maintains the gorgeous space. The goal is to preserve the representative flora of central Indiana, but you will also spy unusual species if you take the time to wander through these leafy halls.
Blooming along the Inland Waterway Canal, the Holcomb Gardens offer not only a wide array of beautiful plants, but a pond and a statue of the Greek goddess Persephone as well. The formal gardens occupy some twenty acres of prime property and frequently provide photo-ops for events such as weddings and receptions.
It turns out that communion with nature can be a huge enhancement to the learning process. Education in Indianapolis benefits greatly from the numerous and varied parks in Indianapolis. This natural, open area is the site of many a lecture, public reading, biology study class or other gathering. Butler students and staff are fortunate to have this wonderful salute to nature at their beck and call, a built-in opportunity to renew and restore.
