The Columbia Club Hotel in downtown Indianapolis is a distinctive club residence requiring membership for access, though they honor many reciprocal memberships. The structure contains nearly 100 rooms, plus four restaurants and lounges.
The building has a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Fairly unassuming on the exterior, the Columbia Club Downtown Indianapolis Hotel has an elegant feel to all of its rooms on the interior. There is a fitness center which includes a pool for guests, as well as business meeting area facilities.
Located in the heart of Indianapolis, the Columbia Club is convenient to all the fabulous sights, businesses and gathering places in downtown Indy, such as the Indiana War Memorial Plaza Historic District with its famous Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Monument Circle. One of the favorite shopping centers in the state, the Circle Centre Mall, is just next door, as are the beautiful White River State Park, the Children’s Museum and the world-class Indianapolis Zoo.
Places to stay, long-term or short, are rife in this capital city of Indiana, and some of the best hotels in Indianapolis can be found right downtown. Considering the neighborhood’s proximity to many of the major attractions in Indianapolis, as well as to the International Indianapolis Airport, most trips to Indianapolis tend to end up there. As far as the best location for a resident membership hotel, there is no question that the Columbia Hotel is well-situated, which more than likely explains at least a portion of its longevity and success over the years.
Along with its excellent reputation as a place to stay in comfort and hospitality, the Columbia Club has earned the respect of the Indianapolis arts community for sponsoring so many so many wonderful Indianapolis artists, and the walls of this venerable inn are equally blessed. It’s also a popular Indianapolis performing arts venue; the Columbia Club is the relatively new home of Cabaret at the Columbia Club, an Indianapolis theatre company that puts on regular shows at this Indianapolis hotel. Cabaret at the Columbia Club has gone through many iterations, beginning as the American Cabaret Theatre at the Athenaeum Theatre. Cabaret at the Columbia Club is yet another reason to visit the historic Columbia Club hotel in downtown Indianapolis.
