With some 40 separate colleges across the United States, the local Art Institute’s Indianapolis academy focuses on helping their students build careers in the arts in Indianapolis, including design, fashion, the culinary arts, and Indianapolis media.
The Indianapolis Art Institute maintains a prime location at a famous Indianapolis landmark called The Pyramids. This is a large office complex at College Park in the north side of Indy, just under the I-465 between Zionsville and Carmel, Indiana. The Pyramids consist of three enormous, four-sided pyramids made almost exclusively of glass panels.
The Indianapolis branch of the giant Art Institute opened in the year 2006, and at that time, it was a branch of the Las Vegas Art Institute. The Art Institute offers a professional and sophisticated education in the creative careers most likely to be viable throughout the students’ lives. Instructors create a learning environment that is of the “hands-on” variety, directed at helping the students prepare to ply their artistic trade in the real world.
Contacts made at the Art Institute can last a lifetime. The networking students accomplish inside this specialized environment has the potential to help them in ways they might never dream in later endeavors.
The stated mission of The Art Institute of Indianapolis is “to be the leader in providing post-secondary learning-centered education programs in the fields … in an environment where students who actively participate can maximize their creativity and acquire marketable skills and knowledge to pursue a career at entry-level in their fields of study.”
The focus, then, is obviously on making a practical vocation out of a creative endeavor. Indianapolis artists would do well to consider investigating the possibilities that the Art Institute of Indianapolis can bring to their creative lives, and compare this facility to other art schools in Indianapolis, with an eye to practicality.
An atmosphere of integrity and mutual respect that pervades the Art Institute, as especially befits the study of the arts. Values such as excellence, service, collaboration and development are keys to the success of this remarkable academy.
