The Holcomb Observatory and Planetarium is one of the largest public observatories in the world. Why might you care about such information? While the Holcomb Observatory and Planetarium serves as the home to all of Butler University’s astronomy and astrophysics courses, on most Friday and Saturday nights of the year, they share the cosmos with any and all who wish to gaze upward. If you’re looking for something to do in Indy, look no further than the Holcomb Observatory. Tours start at 7:30 pm and usually run an hour in length. Afterward, if Mother Nature permits, the telescope is open to the public for viewing. The Holcomb Observatory and Planetarium offers an environment the whole family can enjoy; so bring the kids and give them something to dream about this weekend.
Due to our Earth’s constant rotation the planets, stars and constellations in the heavens above are forever changing. As the time of year changes, so does the view above us.
