Don’t know what love is? The Indianapolis Tennis Center has been teaching hoosiers for years that love means zero. They also teach Indianapolis children and adults the rest of tennis lingo, including what a “deuce” is, how to perform an “ace,” perfect that “backswing,” and avoid any “faults.”  Whether its like learning a foreign language, or a second nature to you, The Indianapolis Tennis Center, located on the campus of IUPUI in downtown Indianapolis, can turn you into a tennis playing machine.

Learning the language of tennis is just the beginning at the Indianapolis Tennis Center, which has been in operation since 1979. Each year, the facility hosts the Indianapolis Tennis Championships. This event attracts some of the world’s best tennis players, and it often raises money for charitable organizations, such as Riley Hospital for Children. Junior tennis players at the Indianapolis Tennis Center are often recognized nationally for their success in the game.

The facility has sixteen outdoor courts, including two clay courts, and six indoor courts. Tennis lovers flock to the Indianapolis Tennis Center in the off-season to keep their skills sharp on Indy’s first downtown indoor courts. The outdoor arena can seat up to 10,000 spectators, making the venue perfect for large scale tennis tournaments and events.

The Indianapolis Tennis Center is a part of the huge IUPUI Sport Complex, which is also home to the IU Natatorium, the National Institute for Fitness and Sport, The Jungle, and the Michael A. Carrol Track and Soccer Stadium. These state-of-the-art facilities allow the campus to hold Olympic caliber events for student and professional athletes, while also creating a huge hub for Indianapolis sports.

There are several youth summer camps available, offering lessons from the basics to advanced. Members and non-members are welcome to practice or play at the Indianapolis Tennis Center. The facility offers multiple membership packages and lessons, which are broken down by age and skill level on their website.

Visiting the Indianapolis Tennis Center is one of the many exciting things to do in Indianapolis. Whether you’re an Indy resident, or a guest at one of the many Indianapolis hotels, the Tennis Center is one of the many must-see Indianapolis attractions.
