Zing’s Restaurant is located in downtown Indianapolis on the west edge of Indiana Avenue and the Indiana University – Purdue University campus. It has a favored locale to capture the hearts and stomachs of the local college students, but also offers such a unique take on the dining experience that many fans travel long distances, just to get the “Zing.”
Among the great restaurants in downtown Indianapolis, Zing’s is a standout. To start with, they call themselves a “small plate dining experience,” which, at Zing’s, means that they continuously serve different dishes to the table, and these dishes are meant to be shared among all the diners. Two renowned Chefs create each plate with an eye to both exquisite taste and an appealing design.
Visual appeal does not stop with the plating, however. The entire restaurant possesses a sleek and satisfying design, with special artistic touches and interesting lighting at every corner. Sit indoors or on the spacious, European-style balcony outside, surrounded by the spectacular Indianapolis skyline downtown.
A typical brunch might include chilaquiles with salsa verde and sides, smoked cheddar cheese grits and bacon with shrimp from the grill, the omelet of the day, Canadian bacon, French toast made with strawberries and whipped cream from Challah bread, smoked salmon bagels, various salad concoctions, a fried pork tenderloin or prime rib burger, and your basic scrambled eggs, chef style.
And that’s just brunch.
A few of the other favorites on the menu are: authentic gazpacho, sopressata pizza, Asian sesame chicken salad, Greek salad, pork tenderloin, sweet and spicy skirt steak, key lime chicken, prosciutto, zing zing shrimp, medjool dates stuffed with chorizo sausage and bacon, shrimp ceviche, spicy calamari, shrimp wonton, pineapple tamale, jumbo sea scallops, bee kabobs, bombay turkey mini-burgers, mahi mahi tacos with avocado, crab cakes with remoulade sauce and jerk chicken satay on potato pancakes.
And that’s just the “small” plates.
Just a few of the “large small plates” include: Viking leg of lamb with Moroccan black bean cakes and a pomegranate glaze, sea bass in a banana leaf with pineapple, achiote chili and jasmine rice, and of course, the nightly “Chef’s Special.”
Beverages at Zing’s Restaurant are likewise geared toward the sensational. Try the Fizzy Lizzy red hill pomegranate, the Goose Island orange cream or one of their special ales or delicious designer martinis. The Zing Martini looks particularly zingy.
Zing’s has an especially neat party atmosphere too. Indianapolis businesses love Zing’s for an unusual, warm meeting space. And you could do no better for your private party than sharing all the scrumptious “small plate” conversation starters with friends and family.
Eclectic? Yes indeed. Just as cool as the magnificent city around it, Zing’s Restaurant will definitely put the zip back into your Indianapolis downtown dining experience.
