For more than 50 years, Murphy’s Steakhouse has been making Indianapolis history. The menu features traditional Irish cuisine for lunch and dinner, but the restaurant also has a private banquet room to host memorable events and parties.
Murphy’s Steakhouse is located in the thick of Indianapolis nightlife, just north of downtown Indianapolis and a short drive from Broad Ripple Village, Butler University and the Indiana State Fairgrounds. It’s hard to miss the green and white Murphy’s sign, which is decorated with very festive four leaf clovers, on North Keystone Avenue.
In order to spice things up a bit, and add variety for customers, Murhpy’s Steakhouse features weekly specials that are custom designed by the well-known chef Rickie Tillman. The great prices and delicious offerings keep customers rolling in all year long. The restaurant has a full bar with an extensive wine list. For customers with a sweet tooth, Murhpy’s Steakhouse offers a variety of desserts, all priced at $5.
Murphy’s Steakhouse’s claim to fame in Indianapolis is its steak filet and fried lobster entrees. They also serve a unique and delicious warm salad with wilted lettuce and bacon. Each full dinner comes with a soup, salad and potato at no extra charge.
Over the years, the Indianapolis restaurant has seen many faces. In 1950, Murphy’s Steakhouse was originally opened as a Frisch’s Big Boy restaurant. In the 1960s, ownership of the facility changed and it became Calloway’s Steakhouse. Calloway’s operated for 17 years before being bought by Jim Murphy, who gave the restaurant his family name. This is when Murphy’s Steakhouse began offering affordable hand-cut steaks and fresh seafood. Craig and Regi Stonebraker decided to keep the name when they bought Murhpy’s in 1990.
The Stonebrakers transformed Murhpy’s Steakhouse into a traditional and cozy Irish restaurant. They strive for a “welcome home” feel for customers, which is why they are very selective in choosing friendly and hospitable employees. Murphy’s Steakhouse guarantees high quality food, value for customers and friendly service.
Reservations at Murhpy’s are not required, but recommended for the quickest and most convenient service. The place is usually completely packed on weekends, so reservations aren’t a bad idea. Full details about the Murhphy’s Steakhouse menu can be found on their Web site, where customers can make reservations, search weekly specials and also find printable coupons.
