Following fresh in the footsteps of pop punk bands like Green Day, Blink-182, Hawk Nelson, and the Bouncing Souls is Indianapolis music group Same as Sunday. The band is a high energy outfit that consists of Chris Bauchle, Andy “The” Heck, Tree-Z, and Kmart. As suggested by their stage names, Same as Sunday is as much about having fun on stage as they are for writing catchy rock riffs and addicting pop hooks.

The band was formed in 2005 when friends Chris Bauchle and Kyle Trees (stage name Tree-Z) joined forces with drummer Andy Heck to create Same as Sunday. Same as Sunday began playing for friends and at Indianapolis music venues, including the standard circuit of Indianapolis bars. Using a diverse skill set that involves energetic drumming, goofy lyrics, and heavy, melodic guitar riffs, Same as Sunday is the total package for live entertainment.
Same as Sunday has been the focus of a lot of attention among Indianapolis media outlets and has also garnered some press around the United States. Lead singer and front man Chris Bauchle was recently interviewed about by an Indianapolis Star reporter about the state of indie music in Indianapolis. The interview eventually made it into an article that featured members of other Indianapolis bands, including Grey Granite (an Indianapolis electro-soul artist), Jill Weiss of Indianapolis rock band We Are Hex, and Ben Masbaum, vocalist for Lafcadio.

Same as Sunday was voted “Best Unsigned Band of the Month” for December of 2008 in the national music news publication, Alternative Press, which in some ways is similar to Indianapolis’ NUVO Newsweekly. The band has also won RadioNow 100.9‘s Band in a Bubble competition, several big time band battles (including the battles sponsored by the Vans Warped Tour, Concerts First, and Ivy Tech Community College), and their hit single, “Pottymouth Princess,” has seen tons of airplay on many Indianapolis radio stations, earning them the title of Featured Artist on 99.5 WZPL‘s “Homegrown Buzz” program.

Currently, the band is on a nationwide tour entitled the “Back to the Futour” with The Boy and His Machine and Aux Sable Embers. The tour is making stops in Evansville, Philadelphia, New York, Raleigh, and many other U.S. cities.
