The Goodnight Horizon: Up and Coming Hardcore in Indianapolis

Indianapolis certainly has its share of Christian hardcore music. With bands like Haste the Day and Gwen Stacy shredding apart Indianapolis music venues with double bass pounding and searing guitar riffage, there’s no shortage of outlets for Indianapolis kids who love to headbang.

Indianapolis music group The Goodnight Horizon is no exception; they are another example of a face melting hardcore band out of the Circle City. The group’s debut album, Test Your Heart, is a heavy mish mash of impassioned lyrics, guttural growls, and punishing guitar lines. But The Goodnight Horizon isn’t all about whipping hardcore fans into a windmill kicking frenzy. The band also has a message for its fans, a message of love and Jesus Christ.

Test Your Heart is all about meeting trials and hardships head on, about “wiping the dirt from your eyes” (“Burning Bridges”) and repairing relationships that have burnt to the ground (“In This Moment”). Test Your Heart is currently available on iTunes and through The Goodnight Horizon‘s MySpace page, but the band has yet to find a label to support the album’s release in a physical format.

Currently, The Goodnight Horizon is on tour throughout the United States. The band has made stops in Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. In addition, The Goodnight Horizon also has many shows scheduled in cities in Indiana, including performances in Franklin, Seymour, Huntington, and New Castle. In Indianapolis, The Goodnight Horizon has displayed their raw power at several popular venues, including Church of the Master, the Emerson Theatre, and several Indianapolis bars. Future show dates and locations can be found at many Indianapolis media outlets, like NUVO Newsweekly, the Indianapolis Star, and WOXY.
