INDIANAPOLIS – According to statistics released this month by the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of REALTORS® (MIBOR), pended sales continued an encouraging trend. During the second quarter of 2009, 7,218 homes pended. While down 6 percent from the same three-month period in 2008, the decrease continues to improve when compared to the double-digit declines seen earlier in the year. Pended home sales are a forward-looking indicator based on contracts signed, but not closed.
Months of supply decreased from 10.2 months in June 2008 to 8.9 in June 2009.
Overall properties sold during April to June 2009 totaled 6,735, which represents a 10 percent decrease from the same period in 2008. Home sales increased 7 percent in Boone County, 12 percent in Brown County, 4 percent in Johnson County and 3 percent in Madison County.
Additional key local findings:
- Hancock and Hendricks counties both experienced a slight increase in sale price during April to June 2009, compared to the same period in 2008.
- During the three-month period ending May 31, 12,652 units were listed.
- The average sale price of units from April to June was $139,758.
