The Visual Fringe, a tandem event to the indyFringe Festival, opens this Friday August 7 in galleries along Mass Ave and across Indianapolis downtown. The opening of this year’s Visual Fringe is strategically placed to happen in conjunction with the monthly First Friday Art Walk, hosted by the Indiana Downtown Artists and Dealers Association, or IDADA.
This visual component of the Fringe festival is meant to enhance the eclectic atmosphere of the indyFringe. At the same time, it showcases the work of talented yet unknown artists across the Hoosier state. These artists share their work along side some of Indy’s favorite established artists, proving that no matter who you are in the Indianapolis art community, you are welcome.
Visual Fringe has proven its effectiveness in increasing the energy and excitement of the indyFringe Festival. It is a wonderful starting platform for many artists who have never shown their work before. Before the month of August is over, live theater in Indianapolis will meld with visual arts on display. Feeding off of each other, artist from every realm and audiences of every piece will have a much richer experience.
