“When you take the blues and make a song,” so the lyrics go, “you sing ’em out again.” Corny? Possibly. True? Probably.
In the middle of energetic downtown Indianapolis sits the oldest bar in Indianapolis and undisputed home of Hoosier blues music. The Slippery Noodle Inn has been going since way back in 1850, and it looks like it’ll be around at least as long as the music presented in it. That genre is almost exclusively the venerable blues, and the Indianapolis gathering place was voted ““Best Bar and Best Live Music” in 2008 by CitySearch.
If you’re interested in Indianapolis nightlife, you’ve probably hung out at the Slippery Noodle Inn. It’s the kind of place they come to from all over Indiana, not just locally. Maybe you caught some of the Indianapolis bands cranking out some soulful blues there. Maybe you made a friend. Maybe you even left with a slightly lighter spirit, knowing the blues were in good hands.
