At the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, kids of all ages can enjoy the spooktacular displays of frightening fun at the Children’s Museum Haunted House all through the month of October in 2009. This elaborate exhibit is one of the museum’s most popular attractions, and has become one of the most-visited haunted houses in Indiana each Halloween season.

Because it gets a wide age range of visitors, the Children’s Museum Haunted House takes special care to make sure to accommodate even the smallest guest. During Friendly Hours, which is the time at the haunted house designated for preschoolers and children who scare easily, your Indianapolis kids can get their fill of family fun. The lights will be on to ensure no tears as they greet happy ghosts and goblins along the way.

Frightening Hours at the Haunted House are another matter entirely, and only for those who “dare to be scared.” The house is shrouded in darkness and each character is in full costume and makeup. Haunters will not touch the guests, but they will do everything possible to give you a dose of full-on fright during your visit.

After you scare yourself silly during Frightening Hours at the Children’s Museum Haunted House, head to the Trick or Treat Theatre for a screaming good time. Along with a kid-friendly lunch full of goodies and surprises, there’s an interactive performance along with Halloween crafts that provide fun for all ages.

If you still haven’t had your fill of creepy characters, why not feast with the witches? This haunted “boo-ffet” is open to all ages and features breakfast or dinner hosted by a group of friendly witches and a Halloween musical.

Since its inception in 1945, the Children’s Museum Haunted House has raised more than $5 million for the museum. More than 50,000 visitors flock to the exhibit each year, proving that the interactive display is one of the top places to indulge in some Halloween haunting in the Hoosier state.

For more information on this creepy attraction, visit the Children’s Museum website. Besides giving you the hours of operation and more visitor information, the site contains fun games that get your child ready for their day of frightful fun at the Haunted House. They can color a witch, complete the haunted puzzle, and even download ghostly wallpaper. This Halloween season, make sure your kids don’t miss out on this delightful display of Halloween horror in Indianapolis.
