Picture this: it’s Monday night and you’re bored. There’s nothing good on television and all you can do is go stir crazy while you think about all the things you have on your to-do list for Tuesday. It seems like sorting out the recycling and going to bed early are your only options.
Now picture this: it’s Monday night and you know about fun things to do near downtown Indianapolis, so you’ve made it to The Melody Inn. You didn’t have to pay a cover charge, you didn’t have to pay to park, and a caring barkeep is mixing up your favorite drink while you watch stand-up comedians and local musicians.
If you are looking for something different to do, Otto the Comic has you covered. On the third Monday of each month, Otto hosts Otto’s Funhouse at the popular Indianapolis bar, The Melody Inn. Voted the number two Open-Mic Night in Indianapolis, Indiana, Otto’s Funhouse offers a microphone to anyone with the guts to get in front of it. Stand up comics try out new jokes and Indianapolis bands and musicians play some tunes they’ve been working on.
Last Monday at Otto’s Funhouse, performances included sophomoric stand up from comic Chris O’Neil, an Indiana University student from Bloomington along with the avant-garde guitar playing of a performer clad in long underwear and a cape who sang short songs for the girls he has known. After each performer, Otto took the microphone to impart comic tidbits to the audience before introducing the next future star.
Anyone 21 and over can enjoy the relaxed environment of The Melody Inn and catch some great Indianapolis talent at Otto’s Funhouse.
Sign up for the mic starts at 9pm with performances thereafter.
