If you’re a writer and you’re going to be in Indianapolis, specifically downtown Indianapolis, during the month of September, 2009, you will want to plan on attending this special event. Presented at the Indianapolis Central Public Library, this is the very first “Indy Author Fair,” a whole day dedicated to words and the people who love them. The event is to be held in the Central Public Library.

The public is invited to attend the Indy Author Fair without cost. Programs during the event will include various workshops for writers, inspiring author lectures, seminars and information on that all-important question, “How do I get published?” and much more.

The September 26 Authors Award is one of the important Library Foundation signature events, mounted for the multi-purposes of disseminating information to budding authors, encouraging the public to both read and write and helping the Foundation to support all these activities in general.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library Foundation supplements tax dollars for the library through fundraisers such as the Award Dinner, creates outreach programs throughout the Indianapolis community and other cities in Indiana, and supports educational activities programs.

Tickets for the Award Dinner can be acquired at the Indiana Authors Award website, or through the Library Foundation. The regular ticket price is $75 per person or $600 for a table of eight. There is a “Book Club Special,” which offers discounted rates of $65 per person or $520 for a table of eight.

The Indy Author Fair and the Authors Awards Dinner are destined to find a place on the list of important charities and non-profitsĀ  in Indianapolis. Without culture, we are nothing, and it is groups such as the Library Foundation that remind us of that indisputable concept.
