There are some 15,000 distinct species of butterflies across the planet… that we know of. At the Butterflies in Bloom exhibit, you’ll find 300 of the most spectacular. The Indianapolis Zoo is proud that they have gathered several Asian species to feature for the first time in this, the eleventh presentation of the show.
Did you know that a caterpillar grows some 27,000 times larger than its size at birth? If a baby human boy was born at nine pounds and grew like the caterpillar, by the time he was an adult, he would be 243,000 pounds!

It will be a lasting memory for the whole family, and when school starts and your children are asked, along with several thousands of other children in Indianapolis, what they did during the summer, the Butterflies in Bloom story will be a popular one.
When you enter the Hilbert Conservatory, you will be transported into another world, a universe of beauty, full of exotic plants, pleasant walkways, running water and the most beautiful insects on earth.
The special exhibit takes place at Indy’s Hilbert Conservatory in White River Gardens. Admission is included with your Indianapolis Zoo admission and free for members. The IndyZoo is located in downtown Indianapolis.
