Indianapolis kids love Star Wars, and strangely enough, so do the parents who spawned them. That’s because this mega-giant superstar has been around now for two generations.

As of last March, families can immerse themselves, en masse, in the Star Wars experience, right in downtown Indianapolis. The renowned Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is running “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” in a special exhibition on the Children’s Museum’s lower level. “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” will continue at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum through January of 2010.

You’ll see some of the now-famous costumes, props and artwork used to produce the animated feature, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Lucasfilm Animation’s first full-length animation. There are scale models, maquettes, from The Clone Wars, and the show is put together so that viewers can see the process that brings each character to life.

Some of the most intriguing features of the show are the full-sized flats of your favorite characters, Yoda, Anakin, Ahsoka and many more. Take a picture with them and you have just created an instant, unforgettable family heirloom that will be passed down through more generations of your own clan’s clones.

Planning to visit Indianapolis from other cities in Indiana for the big Indiana State Fair? Chances are you’ll be staying at one of the great Indianapolis hotels downtown, close to the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Set aside an hour or so to pop over to the Indianapolis Children’s Museum and get an eyeful of the eye-candy there. You might want to spend the day and see some of the other famous Indianapolis attractions, such as the magnificent Canal and White River State Park which houses the Indianapolis Zoo, or the premier tourist attraction in Indianapolis, Monument Circle.
