The German-American Klub presents Oktoberfest, winding down Saturday, September 12th, 2009. The location is the Indiana State Fairgrounds, the hotspot for Indianapolis events over lo, these many years. Entertainment galore is scheduled, both indoors and outdoors, with some live music by Indianapolis bands and groups from other cities in Indiana, German dance groups, a strolling magician, a ventriloquist, a barbershop quartet group that strolls around the Fairgrounds, and much more. Moved just last year to the Indiana State Fairgrounds, the Oktoberfest is a favorite thing to do in Indianapolis among Hoosiers and tourists alike.
Games and carnival rides draw Indianapolis children like moths to a flame, and the adults love them too. But what they love even more is the incredible German food available at the Indianapolis Oktoberfest, and the German beer in huge frosty steins to go with it.
The Fishers Train Station, in conjunction with the Indiana Transportation Museum in nearby Noblesville, will run their Oktoberfest Trains from Fishers to the Indiana State Fairgrounds all five days during Oktoberfest. Trains depart from the Fishers Station and take passengers to Millersville Road and 39th Street. Passengers cross the bridge and enter the Fall Creek Parkway, which is the State Fairgrounds’ Gate Six. From there, passengers take shuttles to the west side. All the action is happening in the vicinity of the Agriculture/Horticulture building. Your train ticket includes your admission to the Oktoberfest. Fishers is a suburb just Northeast of Indianapolis.
