The upcoming Hoosier Antiques Exposition is a much-anticipated Indianapolis event that draws visitors from many other cities in Indiana as well. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the show. The place is the Toyota Exposition Hall at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, and the days are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 11, 12 and 13, 2009, which is next weekend. The Fairgrounds are just northeast of the Indianapolis downtown sector.
The Hoosier Antiques Exposition is the longest-running antique show in the state of Indiana. Presented at these expositions are enormous numbers of antiques of all kinds, from the rustic to the precious. Vendors started setting up their booths today; the show starts on Friday.
Expect to see fine china, quality glassware, antique furniture, vintage clothing, Oriental rugs, dolls, jewelry, toys, silver, porcelain and pottery, all antiques, all with their stories to tell.
An average of 100 of the leading antiques dealers from all over the country travel to Indianapolis to participate in the Hoosier Antiques Exposition, which occurs three times a year. There will be a professional glass grinder on-site to fix any broken or chipped antiques. Indianapolis collectors love antiques and the Exposition is a good opportunity for out of town and local Indianapolis antique dealers to showcase their items.
Concurrent with this special event at the Indiana State Fairgrounds is another unique happening: the All American Horse Classic, also on the Fairgrounds. This breathtaking show is held in and around the nearby Pepsi Coliseum and the big-purse equestrian competition is free to the public, so you and your family might choose to see both of these shows once you’re on the Fairgrounds.
