There are several key factors as to why you and your family should make your way over to the Penrod Arts Fair at the Indianapolis Museum of Art tomorrow, Sept 12th. First of all, there will be something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Second, the weather forecast will be gorgeous all day reaching a high of 80 degrees. And finally, with Sunday officially kicking off the Indianapolis Colts season, all the wives and girlfriends in Indy should realize that this is their last shot of getting old Romeo off the couch for the next four months.
Known as “Indiana‘s Nicest Day,” this Indianapolis festival offers goods from artisans who have converged on the Circle City from all over the country. You will easily be able to spend all day looking through the offerings that await. There are painters, glass blowers, photographers and wood carvers. Those who create one-of-a-kind jewelry will be there as well as metal and ceramics sculptors. There is even a decorative spoon artist, yup a spoon artist.
There will be art that you can wear and art that will be hung and make you stare. There is art that is quite refined and some that is yet to be defined but all of it can be yours. If you don’t think you can make it through the whole day on your feet than take advantage of the Penrod Arts Fair Entertainment that is scheduled all over the IMA’s grounds. This includes live Indianapolis music from all different genres and dance performances from some of our favorite local companies like Dance Kaleidoscope. There is even a whole section of the grounds dedicated for the use and entertainment of your children.
Plenty of food options will be yours tomorrow at the Penrod Arts Fair. There will be good food, healthy food and deep fried food that is so bad for you it too is actually good. A culinary demonstration stage has been setup by the International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Indianapolis.
These are just some of the options that the 2009 Penrod Arts Fair is offering Hoosiers this year. Get up and get out tomorrow and see why the Indianapolis art community is so excited.
