The ever-popular Indy Jazz Fest commences this Saturday, September 19 and goes through September 27, which is a Sunday. The Indianapolis festival kicks off at the Clowes Memorial Hall in Butler Univeristy. A week-long agenda is scheduled for around Indianapolis, including some jazz focus groups in various Indianapolis schools.
Some of the featured venues are The Jazz Kitchen, the Chatterbox Jazz Club downtown and the Vogue Nightclub in Broad Ripple Village. The Lawn at White River State Park, a huge outdoor concert venue in downtown Indianapolis, will be animated by the Indy Jazz Fest on Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27. Two stages will be filled with the sophisticated sounds of some of the finest jazz musicians in the country.
On Friday, September 25,at the renowned Madame Walker Theatre, also in the Indianapolis downtown sector, the Indy Jazz Fest proudly presents a tribute to Freddie Hubbard by Dr. David Baker. Four luminaries from the jazz music field will join him to give Hoosiers from Indy and other cities in Indiana an unforgettable experience.
