You know you have made a wise decision about your evening’s plans when the entertainer’s outfit alone is worth the price of admission. The American Cabaret Theatre, keeps presenting Indianapolis with nationally acclaimed acts that will leave the audience wanting to sing from the rooftops about what they’ve just seen. Friday night’s performance, “The Patsy DeCline Show,” was no exception.
Patsy DeCline, played by Denver based cabaret owner Lannie Garrett, takes over the stage the second the house lights go down. With a personality almost as big as her hair, she moves back and forth seamlessly from song and dance to improved comedy that does not give the crowd a choice of whether or not the want to participate. Quite simply Patsy DeCline is her own biggest fan and she does not mind letting it be known.
This musical parody of a never-has-been country singer brings the audience along for the ride of her lifetime. Stories of loves lost and runaway keep the energy at maximum capacity from start to finish. Almost lost in the side-splitting comedy act is the true talent Garrett posses when it comes to vocal ability. Her voice is powerful yet sweet all at once. If you do not have plans for Saturday evening look no further than “The Patsy DeCline Show” in downtown Indianapolis. There are two shows tonight, the first starting at 6:00pm with the final performance hitting the stage at 9:30pm. Tickets range from $40-$25 for the 6:00pm showing, and all seats for the 9:30pm showing cost just $25.
If you can’t decide on whether to go before or after dinner you don’t need to. The Cabaret offers both food and a full bar selection for you to chose from before the curtain goes up and the morality goes down.
Call the Cabaret at 317.294.7005 or order tickets online here.
If you can’t make it tonight no sweat, check back later this week when FunCityFinder.com talks one-on-one with the Cabaret’s managing director, and world-class performer in her own right, Shannon Forsell. She will outline the rest of this year’s season and give us a glimpse at the new and improved American Cabaret Theatre.
