Indianapolis Civic Theatre will conduct OPEN AUDITIONS for the musical extravaganza “THE WIZARD OF OZ.” Auditions are set for Monday and Tuesday, September 28 & 29 at 7pm (adults) and on Wednesday, September 30 at 4pm for the Munchkins (children 6-12).
Auditions will be held at the Theatre facility, 3200 Cold Spring Road on the campus of Marian University. A FREE Audition Preparation Session is offered on Monday, Sept. 21 from 6-7pm at the Theatre. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin October 19. Indianapolis Civic Theatre’s signature holiday extravaganza will be presented on the Theatre’s mainstage from December 11 through January 3, 2010. The script calls for a cast of approximately 5 men and 4 women in addition to a large singing and dancing ensemble and a large Indianapolis children’s chorus appearing as Munchkins.
Come play a part as this Indianapolis theatre prepares to fill the principal roles of Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, Glinda the Good Witch, the Wicked Witch of the West, Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. Faithful to MGM’s popular movie which is celebrating its 70th Anniversary this year, the Royal Shakespeare Company brought the dazzling film to life in their 1987 stage version.
Indianapolis Civic Theatre is a renowned Indianapolis performing arts company, which focuses on producing large scale musicals. Civic Theatre’s production will be directed by Civic Director of Music & Education Brent E. Marty. Performers are asked to prepare 16 bars of a song and may be asked to sing from the show. Actors should bring sheet music in the appropriate key and dress comfortably for dancing. An accompanist will be provided.
