The Fishers Renaissance Faire draws over 14,000 visitors over the weekend, most from the nearby communities of Noblesville, Carmel, Lawrence and, of course, Indianapolis. Strolling through its magical atmosphere, however, you will come upon attendees from many other cities in Indiana, especially Anderson, Pendleton, Fortville, Westfield, Cicero and Zionsville, all within a twenty-mile radius of Fishers, Indiana.
One of the most popular happenings all year in Indiana, especially among Fishers events and even Indianapolis events, the 5th Annual Renaissance Faire is coming right up next weekend, October 3 and 4, 2009. The Renaissance Faire at Fishers is still young, having only been born five years ago, but it caught on like wildfire. The unique Fishers festival is put on, appropriately, in Fishers’ Conner Prairie, one of the foremost living museums in the country.
Look for live music in Fishers from local and Indianapolis bands, Elizabethan-themed comedy, magic, dance and lots of pomp and circumstance. Fishers restaurants and others nearby will provide the majority of the feasting for festival goers. The Fishers Renaissance Faire proudly presents its artisans, chosen among the Indianapolis and Fishers arts community for their wares that are never mass-produced, and almost all hand-made. You’re liable to witness such unforgettable sights as an Elizabethan-costumed lady spinning the wool she uses to make her capes right there on the festival grounds.
This year, just a few of the dozens of artisans represented include ceramic dragons and gargoyles created by Greenwear Dragon Ceramic; wands, dolls, fans, cards and treasure maps by Dragonfly Creations; drinking horns, wooden bowls and purses from Leather and Wood; honey creations by Diane’s Honey; chain mail, ladie’s fashions and jewelry by Things from Rings; oils, perfumes and other scents by Past Tyme Perfumerie and witchballs, costumes and prayer flags from Wizard’s Emporium. Just imagine being able to take home a beautiful Elizabethan costume for your kid’s enjoyment this Halloween, or even some authentic chain mail!
Performers at the 5th Annual Renaissance Faire will include a mind-boggling list of unique acts, including performers from the following list:
- Face Painting
