On June 23, 2009, Indianapolis notable, Tom Robertson, suffered a seizure causing a stroke Other than complaining that he was tired, there was no indication of any problem prior to the seizure. Tom was taken to Community Hospital in Indianapolis, where he had two additional seizures and CT scans revealed bleeding in his brain. The next day he was transferred to Clarian Methodist Hospital’s Neuro Critical Care Unit. Tests revealed a blood clot blocking the Sagittal Sinus Vein. More seizures prompted doctors to sedate Tom, and he was placed on a ventilator.

While the cause for the seizures may never be known, sleep apnea and an irregular heartbeat look to be contributing factors From this point, improvement was steady and gradual, and he was transferred to the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana on July 20th before being discharged to home on August 14th with several months of outpatient physical and occupational therapy to follow.

Join the Indianapolis theater community as they celebrate one of their own. The Hoosier spirit will be strong on Wednesday night as Indianapolis performing arts groups share for the greater good.
