One of the most eagerly-anticipated, high-profile and prestigious of the many charity events in Indianapolis is tomorrow’s Harvest Moon Gala, produced on behalf of the Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. People gather every Fall to support the Indianapolis non-profit organization in their ongoing fight against deprivation and hunger in Indiana.
The Indianapolis charity event locale is the historic Conseco Fieldhouse in the Indianapolis downtown sector. (Please see more details below.) During the course of this very special evening, the participants enjoy a cocktail hour, a lovely dinner, live entertainment and friendly auctions.
Since the year 2000, tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs throughout the state of Indiana have evaporated, launching many, many Hoosier families into poverty and need. The Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana networks with more than 400 Indiana charities to provide relief form hunger to about 150,000 different individuals every year. The recipients of the food literally depend on it to survive. Some 50,000 children in Marion County alone, for example, are living at the official poverty level.
There is, therefore, a great need for hunger relief in Indianapolis, throughout Indiana and the United States. Why not get involved this year and have some fun while you’re at it? Attend the Harvest Moon Gala tomorrow. Network with some of the top movers and shakers in Indianapolis society, with some of the biggest hearts. You’ll be glad you did, and so will the people whose lives you touched by your presence.
