Indianapolis Metropolitan High School

Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana saw a gap in Indianapolis education, and Indianapolis Metropolitan High School is an attempt to fill that gap. Indianapolis Metropolitan High School was established on August 23, 2004 by the Indianapolis nonprofit organization Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana. The school was created to give all Indianapolis kids the opportunity to go to college.

Because the goal of Indianapolis Metropolitan High School is to see every one of its students accepted to college, each Hoosier student who attends the school must apply to college. As they go through the application process, students and families are provided with the support they need. Indianapolis Met is interested in creating life long learners who are productive members of Indianapolis society and who have a real chance at success.

Each student is nurtured so that they can achieve success beyond high school. Teachers at Indianapolis Metropolitan High School work with parent and students to decide a course of study based on the students interests and needs. Class sizes are limited to 17 students, so that each student can receive the attention and focus they require. In addition, students who attend Indianapolis Metropolitan High School are encouraged to take unpaid internships as they explore various career options. Practical hands-on experience is key to the educational experience at Indianapolis Met.

This Indianapolis school also offers college level courses to give students a jump start on their college career. By gaining an understanding of the demands of college classes, students have time to work themselves up to such high standards. The faculty and staff work with families and students to make a post high school plan, to ensure success after graduation.

Indianapolis Metropolitan High School does everything it can to see students succeed. This public charter school in the Indianapolis Public School system sees the value in pushing students beyond what they think they can do. Students at Indianapolis Metropolitan High School discover potential they never new existed.
