The Domont Gallery isn’t the only Indianapolis art organization handing out awards during this month’s IDADA First Friday Artwalk, the Dean Johnson Gallery will host the first annual PRIME AIGA Indy Design Awards. While the IDADA Juried Show at the Domont Gallery is in it’s fifth year, the Dean Johnson Design Gallery is pairing up for the first time with the local chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Design (AIGA) to recognize Indianapolis artists making a mark in graphic design in Indy.
All entries are in and judged. Winners will be revealed this Friday, November 6 in a open reception from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This Indianapolis art exhibit will feature the cream of the crop from the local graphic design community. Join in on the First Friday Artwalk in the Indianapolis cultural district, Mass Ave, and Indianapolis downtown. This Indianapolis event is free to all Indianapolis people.
The graphic design artistry will be on display at the Dean Johnson Gallery through November 25, 2009. The PRIME AIGA Indy Design Awards are made possible through generous contributions from the Arts Council of Indianapolis, the Indiana Arts Commission, the Indianapolis Downtown Artists and Dealers Association (IDADA), and Be Indypendent.org.
AIGA is an organization with chapters in cities across the United States. This Indianapolis business is committed to connecting the graphic design world, from employers to artists to patrons. As one of the leading advocates for graphic design artists and students across America, AIGA has come to be an integral part of Indianapolis art. This year’s PRIME AIGA Indy Design Awards marks the beginnings of what will be a meaningful relationship between AIGA and Indianapolis artists.
