The Writer’s Center of Indiana is hosting a Gathering or Writers and Readers this Saturday, November 7 at the Indianapolis Art Center in Broad Ripple Village. This annual Indianapolis event gives Indianapolis people who aspire to write a chance to learn from some top notch professionals. This year’s theme is “Write For Your Life,” and will feature novelists, short story writers, poets, nonfiction writers and editors all focused on seeing every participant improve their writing style.
Come to the Indianapolis Art Center this Saturday to mingle with award winning writers Patricia, Henley, Margaret McMullan, Kit Ehrman, Roger Mitchell, Lou Harry and Susan Neville among other. Also on hand will be the editors of Indianapolis Monthly, Freight Stories, Booth, and Rope Walk Press. From nine in the morning to five in the evening, class sessions, panel discussions and Indianapolis community building events will enlighten and educate amateur writers of central Indiana.
In addition, this Indianapolis event will serve to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Writer’s Center of Indiana. For three decades, the Writer’s Center of Indiana has been helping writers find inspiration and motivation. With a legacy of great Hoosier writers such as Booth Tarkington, James Whitcomb Riley and Kurt Vonnegut, Indiana has a literary reputation to maintain. The Writer’s Center of Indiana is keeping that tradition alive.
At this year’s Gathering of Readers and Writers, faculty members from seven Indiana colleges and universities will be on hand to share and spread knowledge. Class sessions will be available in the following areas:
- Nature Writing
- Mystery Writing
- Publishing in Print and Online
Tickets for this Indianapolis art event are $100 for the general public and $50 for Writer’s Center members, the cost includes all sessions and lunch.
