Indianapolis children under the age of twelve will have the chance to “flip the switch” with November 27 rolls around and the Circle of Lights illuminates the Indianapolis downtown sector for the holidays and into the New Year. The Circle of Lights Coloring Contest promises to attract some 5,000 entrants this year, all vying for the unforgettable honor of being the one to turn on the festivities.
Along with that honor, the winner will receive a gift, a photo with Santa onstage and four invitations to the very special VIP reception for this very special Indianapolis event. The Circle of Lights Coloring Contest runs through November 16, at 3:00 pm, which is when all coloring sheets to be turned in.
Coloring sheets for entries can be picked up at any contractor office for Quality Connection, or you can download one to print at the Quality Connection website here. On November 6, 8 and 13, sheets will be available for pickup at the Indianapolis Star as well.
Entries may also be physically dropped off before the deadline. Locations for dropping off finished coloring sheets are:
- Quality Connection
- The Electrical Training Institute
- Long Electric
The Circle of Lights Coloring Contest is put on by the same folks behind the spectacular holiday event at the famous Indianapolis Monument Circle: the contractors of Quality Connection and the IBEW 481 electrical workers, supplemented by the Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. organization. Every year for 47 years, hundreds of volunteer electricians have gotten together to install 52 strands of lights around the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument in the heart of the Circle City, forming an enormous Christmas tree shape.
One of the most-beloved traditional events in Indianapolis, the Circle of Lights will be inaugurated this year on November 27, the day after Thanksgiving. Over 100,000 spectators will be on hand to witness this inspiring, free holiday kickoff event and enjoy the live Indianapolis music beginning at 6:00 pm.
