Butler University’s School of Music showcases the talents of six professors in a Faculty Artist Series Chamber Music Concert this Tuesday, November 10. Bill Grub on cello, Doug Spaniol on bassoon, David Murray on bass, Gail Lewis on horn, Nick Brightman on saxophone, and Mary Anne Scott on vocals come together to create an evening of chamber music for Indianapolis society. This Indianapolis music event is free to all Indianapolis people. The concert begins at 7:30 pm in the Eidson-Duckwall Recital Hall.
Each member of the School of Music faculty brings something unique to the table. Together these artists have decades of experience not only performing music, but also working as professors at Indiana colleges and universities such as Indiana University, Purdue University, Ball State University and Depauw University. Each musician has placed their thumbprint on the Indianapolis music scene performing with Circle City groups such as the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Brass Choir, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Opera. In addition, their collective experience has taken them across the Hoosier state to play with orchestras in Kokomo, Fort Wayne, Evansville, Lafayette and Richmond.
In addition, these Indianapolis artists have traveled the world sharing their talents. From the United States and Canada to South Korea and Brazil, each musician has their own overseas adventure to tell. From 12 leading roles with the Stadttheater in Berne, Switzerland (Mary Anne Scott) to a European tour (David Murray), these artists have seen it all. Many have incredible personal histories such as jamming with Andy Williams, Natalie Cole, Perry Como and Aretha Franklin (Nick Brightman) or making their professional debut with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra at the age of 17 (Bill Grubb).
This hodge podge of musical talent serendipitously convenes this Tuesday evening for the Faculty Artist Series Chamber Music Concert. After a world of adventures, each has found their way into the faculty of Butler University’s School of Music. Together they perform a repertoire of chamber music in a FREE concert! The performance starts at 7:30 pm. For more information about these talented artists search the faculty biographies on Butler University’s School of Music website.
