This Saturday marks the 14th annual opening of Indiana Repertory Theatre‘s A Christmas Carol, one of the holiday season’s most beloved stories. For fourteen years, the IRT has been offering Indianapolis theatre a celebration of humanity, good will and the spirit of giving. Charles Dickens’ classic is told around the world during this time of year. The IRT shares in a global tradition by bringing the story of Ebenezer Scrooge to life for the people of Indianapolis.
It is a normal Christmas Eve for Ebenezer Scrooge in London, England. His clerk, Bob Cratchit, sits freezing under Scrooge’s icy stare, and everyone seems to have their hand out in Scrooge’s direction. But in a twist of the supernatural, Scrooge’s old partner, Marley, warns the miser of his wicked ways. Over the course of the night, Scrooge’s life is the unlucky host to three ghosts. Join Scrooge as he journeys through the past, present and future to discover the true meaning of Christmas and the error of his ways.
With all your favorite characters in tow, from Tiny Tim to Nephew Fred, this holiday classic brings instant warmth and cheer to even the coldest of hearts. Join the IRT through December 27, 2009 for a romp through the world of Charles Dickens. For a special treat take part in the IRT’s new special event: Holiday Tea and Tradition at the IRT.
