The Witch’s gingerbread house from Hansel and Gretal is a myth no longer this 2inter at Conner Prairie Living History Museum. The Gingerbread Village returns to Conner Prairie this holiday season from Tuesday, December 1, 2009 to Sunday, January 3, 2010. Making a gingerbread house is a big part of a lot of Hoosiers’ holiday celebration. Conner Prairie joins in that tradition year after year by displaying some of the most impressive gingerbread houses in central Indiana.
Any one in cities in central Indiana could have registered to enter their own creation in Conner Prairie’s Gingerbread Village. And now these edible works of Indianapolis art debut next week. With icing as mortar, gumdrops for shingles and gingerbread walls reinforced with sprinkles and candy canes, these yummy houses will be hard not to eat. Each contestant contributes their own imagination. From castles to monuments to baseball diamonds and under the ocean motifs, nothing is off limits for the creative minds of Gingerbread Village at Conner Prairie. One year famous featured a “to scale” model of the Eiffel Tower made entirely of Gingerbread.
From amateurs trying to earn a boy scout patch to professional Indianapolis artists looking for a new medium, these delectable creations will be definitely tempt your taste buds. Admission to the Gingerbread Village at Conner Prairie includes access to the Discovery Station and the indoor play and learning area for toddlers and up. Indianapolis history comes alive at Conner Prairie year round. Enjoy the Gingerbread Village in Fishers, Indiana, just north of Indianapolis downtown.
