December is a time for tradition. As the year comes to a close we reflect on our accomplishments and failures, and we draw our family close to celebrate the start of another year together. Bring your family together at the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s annual Duke Energy Yuletide Celebration running this Friday, December 4 through December 23. In the heart of Indianapolis downtown, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra fills the halls of the Hilbert Circle Theatre with the sounds of holiday cheer. Right off of Monument Circle and the Circle City Lights display on the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has prime holiday hosting real estate.
The Duke Energy Yuletide Celebration is in its twenty fourth year. For nearly a quarter of a century, this holiday tradition has warmed the hearts of Hoosiers across central Indiana. In a Broadway style show, singers, tap-dancing Santas and flying reindeer bring all of your holiday favorites to life. Introduce your Indianapolis kids to the magic of Indianapolis arts this holiday season at the Duke Energy Yuletide Celebration with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
This year the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra brings a few special guests to Indianapolis for a special holiday treat. Grammy Award winning pop singer Maureen McGovern serves as Master of Ceremonies and host to the Duke Energy Yuletide Celebration. And boy is she the perfect person for the job. With a career that spans more than 40 years, McGovern is no stranger to the spotlight. She has performed on Broadway in several smash hits including The Pirates of Penzance, Nine, Three Penny, and Little Women: The Musical, which earned her a nomination for the 2005 Drama Desk Award.
But Maureen McGovern isn’t the only special guest to the Circle City for this festive celebration. Indiana natives Martin Preston and Tony Hoard will fill out the celebration with their special talents. Preston has spent years perfecting his Liberace impression, and now Indianapolis people have the pleasure of seeing this Hoosier do one of the most outlandish and fun famous characters ever. And of course, Tony Hoard, of America’s Got Talent fame, will have his dog Rockin’ Rory in tow. See them do the high-flying, disc-catching act that earned them a top spot on one of the United States most beloved talent competitions.
