Jewtopia Opens December 4, 2009

Looking for something different this holiday season? Want to celebrate the season, but tired of Christmas revues and Christmas carols? Theatre on the Square, in the heart of Indianapolis downtown on Mass Ave, serves up a slice of Jewish this holiday season with Jewtopia, opening this Friday. As a community Indianapolis theatre, Theatre on the Square offers edgy work for Indianapolis art lovers. In normal Theatre on the Square fashion, they strike out with something different from anything else playing Indianapolis theaters this month. See it through January 2, 2010.

Jewtopia tells the hilarious story of two bachelors in search of love and life long commitment. The gentile, Chris, is interested in settling down with a nice Jewish girl. He feels a Jewish bride will simplify his life by making all of his decisions for him. The Jewish Adam wants to please his family by marrying a Jewish woman, but can’t get a date to save his life. After the pair meet at a Jewish singles mixer, they team up to solve each other’s problems. Chris can help Adam become a stud of the dating world, and Adam can give Chris the cover he needs to infiltrate the Jewish dating world and snag a bride. As the two search for their own personal “Jewtopia,” stereotypes collide and cultures clash. Can they wade through the chaos of the dating world and reach their Jewtopia? Find out this month at Theatre on the Square.

For anyone who has ever tried out JDate or been set up with a nice Jewish stranger, this comedy is for you. In fact, anyone who has tried to swim through the dating pool will relate to the trials and tribulations that Adam and Chris face. Written by comedians Bryan Fogel and Sam Wolfson, this hilarious farce about the Jewish world of dating and true love will change the way you see yourself and the blind date sitting next to you.

Tickets to Jewtopia range from $20.00 to $25.00. For more information on show times and how to purchase tickets, visit Theatre on the Square’s official website.
