The hustle and bustle of Indianapolis shopping malls is at times stressful, especially during the holiday season. The gifts you get there maybe on your loved ones wish list, but lack the personal touch of homemade goodies. This weekend, Beasley’s Orchard is having their very special Indianapolis event Christmas at the Orchard, December 10 through the 13th. For four days they offer family friendly activities, homemade treats, and hand made goods, all for a good cause. Proceeds from Christmas at the Orchard go to support Project A.N.G.E.L., an Indianapolis charity that provides clothes, food and toys to underprivileged Indianapolis kids at Christmas time.
I can say, from first hand experience, that Beasley’s Orchard of Danville, Indiana is one of the most quaint farm set-ups in Indiana. Having attended their Pumpkin Patch in October with my family, I can attest to their innovative activities, enjoyable entertainment, and delicious homemade products. This weekend at Christmas at the Orchard, they will have all that and more.
Inside their old barn market, Indianapolis kids will have the opportunity to meet Santa Claus himself, as he swings by Beasley’s Orchard to pick up a box of fresh apples for Mrs. Claus’ Christmas pies. He will be available for wish list hearings and photos on December 12 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and 5:00 to 8:00 pm and on December 13th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm again. While you are waiting to meet the man in red, peruse the old barn market offerings. Fill your belly with hot spiced cider, other holiday drinks from the drink bar, or a hand-dipped caramel apple.
Get some of your Christmas shopping done with the freshest presents, such as gift boxed apples, citrus, fruit baskets and Amish cheeses. Also, look for Winter produce, jams, jellies, honey, persimmon pulp, frozen fruits, cookbooks and more. Get those speciality items that make the holidays a treat. In addition, handmade gifts and decor will also be on sale. They make perfect gifts with a personal touch.
Christmas at the Orchard offers plenty of activities for adults and kids alike. Whyte Horse Winery and Buck Creek Winery will both be on hand to offer wine tastings, with bottles of your favorite shade available for purchase. Several Indianapolis restaurants will be at Beasley’s Orchard to serve a tasty sampling of their cuisine, while you gear up for culinary and other holiday workshop demonstrations. Try some new “Favorite Holiday Apple Recipes” from central Indiana chefs, find innovative new Christmas decor and holiday gift wrapping techniques, learn how to go green this Christmas and more at Beasleys’ Orchard holiday workshops. Visit Beasley’s Orchard’s website for a complete listing of workshop topics and times. Tickets for workshops are $5.00 in advance and $7.00 at the door.
While you are gearing up for the holidays, Indianapolis kids can spend some time in Mrs. Claus’ Twinkle Shop by Sugar Buzz. With take home crafts and more, your kids will be busy all afternoon. In addition, Beasley’s Orchard is providing live Indianapolis music all four days! Hear your favorite holiday tunes live, as you enjoy an afternoon at Beasley’s Orchard.
