Christmas lights of red, yellow, orange, blue and green will line the streets of Broad Ripple Village after Saturday. Kick of the holiday season in Indianapolis at the Broad Ripple Lights Up! celebration this Saturday, December 12. Twinkling lights and a twilight holiday parade are just two elements of this fun Indianapolis event. Indianapolis businesses and residents of Broad Ripple Village will participate in a holiday decorating contest, where you decide the winner! Plus, there will be live Indianapolis entertainment and more!
The celebration in Broad Ripple Village beings at 3:oo pm on Saturday, when Jingle John, his elves and reindeer lead Indianapolis kids in a host of great activities at the Broad Ripple Firehouse at Westfield and Guilford. Take home crafts and free refreshments will keep you busy until the big parade.
Then at 5:30 head to Broad Ripple Avenue, where the twilight parade will kick off. The Grand Marshal, Jennie DeVoe will lead Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus through Broad Ripple Village in a horse drawn carriage. The parade will feature the Broad Ripple High School Marching Band, several floats, a lawn chair drill team, numerous walking organizations, and cool vintage cars. Parade entries are still being accepted until midnight on Friday, December 11. After the parade, free rides in the Claus’ horse drawn carriage will take place until 7:00 pm.
Then at 6:00 pm when Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive at the firehouse, the fun continues. Live Indianapolis music will be on hand for your Indianapolis entertainment. The Deep River Roots Band takes the stage at 5:45 pm. The winners of the holiday decorating contest will be announced and take home their prizes. And the main event, the lighting of the M&I Bank Tree will commence. See this brightly decorated, very tall Christmas tree light up for the first time this year!
This Indianapolis event has been in the works for a long time. Volunteers from Roncalli High School turned the Broad Ripple Firehouse lawn into a holiday lights spectacular. And Broad Ripple residents have decked out their houses in true Christmas Vacation style. Come see the spectacular holiday decorations in Broad Ripple Village for Broad Ripple Lights Up! This family friendly Indianapolis event is sure to get even the Scroogiest of attendees to utter “Merry Christmas.”

On sale in select Indy shops in Broad Ripple Village, this yummy treat isn’t just for Santa’s reindeer. All proceeds from the sales go to benefit the Keever Garden Project at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
