In Indianapolis music this weekend, Indianapolis bands are gearing up for the excitement that is Christmas in the Circle City. There aren’t as many shows going on in Indianapolis music venues as there usually is, but there should be plenty of Indianapolis events going on to keep even the most casual music fan interested. If you can’t find a concert that strikes your fancy below, just take a trip to one of the six Indianapolis cultural districts and wander around for a while. You’re bound to stumble across something that vibrates your ear drum the right way.
Some musical highlights in Indianapolis for this weekend include the unorthodox combination of a live band with belly dancing represented by Indianapolis band Hips from Hell. This interesting group will be playing at Greek Islands Restaurant on Saturday, so be sure to get out there and see what a real pair of hips can do. Of course, the Emerson Theater will be featuring its usual lineup of heavy, angry bands, so bring your earplugs and check out Indianapolis hometown heroes Gwen Stacy, who will be storming that dusty stage with special friends The Contortionists, Venable, and Amarna Reign.
On a lighter note, the Indianapolis Children’s Choir will be teaming up with award winning singer Angela Brown at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church on Saturday for the special “Angels Sing” concert. Take your family; Indianapolis children may not be too entertained, but maybe they’ll be inspired to sing. Members of Indianapolis society might also want to check out Jon Silpayamanant at the Indianapolis International Airport for a little classical music; he’ll tide you over until the next performance by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra or the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra.
