After you have had enough of gumdrop lined sidewalks and candy cane gutters, spend some time with a Victorian era Santa Claus. Victorians invented many of our modern Christmas traditions including the jolly and fat idea of Father Christmas, also known as Santa Claus. Robed in Victorian garb, the Victorian era Santa Claus at Conner Prairie is a perfect way to share the timelessness of Christmas with your Indianapolis kids.
There is tons of stuff to do at Conner Prairie. Craft your very own take home holiday decoration. Make the season brighter with your own creativity. Enjoy a theatrical presentation from the actor interpreters of Conner Prairie. And find out what kids in the nineteenth century were asking Santa Claus for Christmas. Play with nineteenth century toys as you explore the Discovery Station. Play dress up, train conductor, merchant or farmer. There is even a play kitchen to make holiday pies in.
If you are feeling brave (and particularly warm) venture outside to take a stroll through the 1836 Prairietown. Residents bustles about making their holiday preparations. Help them take care of winter tasks in the nineteenth century way. Interact with real people in various roles of the Conner Prairie Community.
